Today, my friend and I decided to do some of the more touristy things Madrid has to offer. Up until now, we have spent our time in Madrid just get acquainted with the city and trying to explore the less touristy areas, but after our trip to Morocco we wanted to keep our momentum and start seeing some of the things we haven’t had the chance to yet. It was just a chill day walking around some of Madrid’s most famous sites, but I was glad to finally spend some time really taking them in.

We started the day with a walk to Puerto del Sol. This actually ended up being a really great time to go, because we inadvertently ended up being in the square when the Madrid basketball team arrived to celebrate winning the Copa del Rey competition. We couldn’t see much, but we did get to see the team and coaches getting off their buses and entering their headquarter building in Puerto del Sol.

After this, we headed to Plaza Mayor. We walked around here for a little while before heading to Mercado San Miguel, which may have been a mistake because all of the pastries and good food here made us hungry. This inspired us to head to Chocolateria San Gines, a cafe known for its churros con chocolate. We decided to split an order of them before heading back home to do some homework before classes on Tuesday.
